Local Events, also called Class C meets, do not require sanctioning by the US Orienteering Federation (USOF) Sanctioning Committee, nor are they bound by USOF Rules.

GAOC Local Events are generally set on white, yellow, orange, green, and red level courses.  Competitors do not see their course until their official start time. Then they must find all of the control points in numerical order and return in under three hours, or before 3 p.m. when the course closes.

Most participants orienteer individually and are started at two-minute intervals, however orienteering with a group is permitted at Local Events. The fastest time on each course wins, however there are no prizes, awards, or t-shirts.
