Join us Sunday, September 10th for our event at Sweetwater Creek SP; we will be running the West side of the park. This side of the park has a bit less elevation and a good trail network to provide less experienced runners a great opportunity to learn the sport. The start/finish will be located at picnic shelter #5 on the right side of the picnic shelter loop, just past the restroom/play area. This time of year is quite busy at Sweetwater, please be courteous of park patrons as we share the park with them. Parking can be limited; school groups please carpool as much as possible. Hydration, sunscreen, and insect repellant are recommended as temps are expected to be warm.

There is construction around the area of the historic mill ruins. This has resulted in the green trail and portions of the red trail in this area to be temporarily closed. These trail sections are marked out of bounds on all maps and the construction areas are clearly marked along the trails in the park; runners please avoid using these trails.

White through Red courses are offered. Runners should select their start times (0845 – 1200) when registering. Time limit is 2.5 hours for all courses; all courses close at 2:30pm. Courses are slightly shorter than normal, given the heat. Lower-level courses (White and Yellow) are designed with “new” runners in mind and will provide a good beginner experience for our newest runners.

Notes

  1. Runners will again have the option to run one or two courses using the same e-stick. (2nd course is $5)
  2. Turnout is expected to be high. Parking is limited close to the start/finish and not exclusive to our event. Please be respectful of other park patrons. There is ample parking closer to the main visitor center if needed. Parking requires a State Park pass or a $5 day pass, please support our state parks.
  3. Water will NOT be provided on any course. A camelbak water carrying device is highly recommended, particularly given the warm temperatures. Participants must bring their own compasses, whistle, and water. DO NOT congregate around the scoring tent after you have downloaded.
  4. Event volunteers are always needed and appreciated. If you are interested in helping at the start, with scoring, search and rescue, or control pickup, please volunteer when registering for the event or contact the meet director.
  5. Pre-paid pre-registration is required. (Registration will open for our volunteer meet directors at 7:00pm on Monday, September 4th, and will open for other volunteer coupon holders at 8:00pm on Monday, September 4th. Registration will open to everyone at 9:00pm on Monday, September 4th.) No paper forms or payments will be accepted on-site.
