Join us for a two day event at Mistletoe State Park, Appling GA (near Augusta) Saturday and Sunday, March 2nd and 3rd, 2019. This will be a two day event, reflecting the Georgia Navigator Cup courses in 2018. You can look at results and routegadget for Georgia O'Fest 2018 to get a pretty good idea of the challenges you face. If you ran in that race, and did well, consider moving up a skill level or distance to see how your skills have improved over the year.
To aide in search and rescue, we would like those who carry a phone on the course, to use an application that will easily transmit, by text message, your current coordinates in case you are lost or injured. I have found that "A-GPS Tracker" works well for this function. A phone number to which you can call or send a text will be printed on the competition map. At some point in the future, to improve SAR response time, this may be a requirement for all beginner and intermediate orienteers.
Results for each day will not be combined for a winning time (as in the GNC) so you can change course levels for your second day. The White course is the same for both days. For advanced courses, one might try a smaller scale map, to emulate an international competition.

GAOC offers beginner instruction at all local meets. Runners may start their course any time between 11am and 1pm with a 3-hour time limit for all courses. All runners must be off the courses by 3pm.
From Atlanta, go east on I-20 to exit 175, then north on GA-150 for 8 miles, then left on Mistletoe Rd., 2.5 miles to the park.
