INTRODUCTION

Welcome to GRITS'2004, a rootin' tootin' fun-filled week
of orienteering including the 2004 USOF Orienteering Convention,
two class-A orienteering meets, the US Trail-O Champs, and a host
of recreational orienteering activities, sponsored by the
Georgia Orienteering Club and the Carolina Orienteering Klubb.

Saddle up your mule and head south to DuPont State Forest
in western North Carolina where you'll start your adventure with a
highfalutin A-Meet hosted by COK, followed by a mountain
bike-o that will leave your mule in the dust!

Pan for gems as you head for the hills of north Georgia,
where you'll bunker down at Truett-McConnell College, our
convention facility. This jewel has it all – dorm rooms, classrooms,
computer labs, meeting spaces, large dining hall, outdoor pool, tennis
courts, and more. O-events include Park-O, Trail-O, and Bubba Goat.
Convention sessions include a mapping clinic, course setting clinic,
workshops, junior activities, and more. Plus visit the Alpine village of
Helen GA, just 10 miles away for shopping & recreational activities.

Prospect for gold at Smithgall Woods, site of this year's
Georgia Navigator Cup and the historic 14-mile Hamby Ditch,
built in 1870 during the great Gold Rush in the South.

Stake your claim to an orienteering vacation you won't forget.
