The Georgia Navigator Cup (GNC)
is an orienteering
weekend hosted by the Georgia Orienteering Club. The next GNC is
scheduled for July 3-4, 2004, at Smithgall Woods, in the cool,
pristine Blue Ridge Mountains
of Cleveland, GA.
GNC is a two-day,
US Orienteering Federation (USOF) sanctioned A-meet, open to
members or non-members. Competitors compete
individually in categories based on gender, age, and course,
according to USOF rules. Awards are presented to the top three
finishers in each category and results are applied to national
rankings for USOF members.
GNC'2004 is being offered as
a post-convention program for the USOF Convention, hosted by GAOC
and COK at Truett-McConnell College, a few miles from Smithgall
Woods. Competitors do not have to attend the USOF Convention to
register for GNC'2004, however, they should use the combination
registration form available at the left-hand navigation button on
this page. |

Orienteering
in July |
|
Did you know that Atlanta hosts
one of the largest 10k road races on July 4th? Every year more
than 20,000 people line up at 8 am to run the Peachtree Road Race.
While all of those (crazy) folks
are running down the concrete streets of Atlanta, you can be
running in the beautiful, cool, pristine woods of the Blue Ridge
Mountains. With our earlier start times, you can expect morning
temperatures between 70-75 degrees. And when you're done
orienteering by 10 or 11am, you'll have the rest of the day to
enjoy Alpine Helen, GA. |

Meet headquarters will be in the
Student Center at Truett-McConnell College (TMAC) in Cleveland GA.
As you enter the campus, the Student Center is the first building
on the right. Parking is available in the back of the building.

Directions to
TMAC |

From Atlanta - I-85 north, I-985 north,
exit 24 turn left to follow GA 129 North. Go about 1.2 miles and
turn right to continue on GA 129 towards Cleveland. Continue to
the town square.
To TMAC Student Center: At the square
in Cleveland, turn right on Limestone Pkwy (GA 115) and go
approximately 0.8 miles to TMAC. The main entrance is on the left.
