GAOC hosts a variety of Orienteering events at parks throughout Georgia.  Local Events are generally open to the public without advanced registration and are Class-C orienteering meets, unless otherwise noted.

GAOC offers beginner instruction at 10 a.m. at all Class C meets. Participants may choose from beginning, intermediate, or advanced courses, and may go out on the course as individuals or with a group. Stagger starts run from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a 3-hour time limit and participants must be off the course by  3 p.m.

Cost is $10/non-member, $7/member, and $3/additional map for participants going out as part of a group. Most parks also require a parking fee of $3-$5.  Events with E-punching require a finger stick for the E-punch courses.  Rental finger sticks available for $3 rental per day.

Selecting Your Course

GAOC uses the following guidelines for setting courses at its Local Events and generally offers a White, Yellow, Orange, Green, and Red Course. When selecting your course, consider your physical ability as well as your orienteering experience. If you're trying orienteering for the first time, GAOC recommends that you try at least one White course to familiarize yourself with the map and sport.
